new adult genre

So the New Adult genre has gotten popular fast. I like them,  some more than others, but one thing I have noticed that bothers me is the lack of supportive parents. I grew up with amazing parents, and I'm not that naieve to think everyone was as lucky as me, but I wish in one of the stories I've read that besides the police, the girl goes to her parents. I also feel reading these novels, that some girls will think they can't go to their parents for help. This new genre really pulls at my heartstrings and makes me very sad for the thousands who have lived moments like this.

About my reviews

Hello! So I just wanted to let you know about how I'm going to be doing my reviews, I won't be doing a book report review, I always hated those in school. I'm going to touch on points I liked or disliked, and more or less just give my opinion of the book. About a small paragraph give or take, and maybe give some recommendations to other books if you liked this book/series, or if you liked these other books you'll like this book/series kind of thing. And of course my rating. Thanks a bunch!

Review: Eve and Once by Anna Carey

I enjoyed these books, it was a great idea, and interesting setting, but I couldn't stand the main character, Eve, she was really easy to hate. I feel like every choice she made got someone hurt or killed. She just drove me nuts. Until mid way into Once, she redeemed herself in my eyes, but then by the end of Once she was back to aggravating me again. Overall I'd give Eve a 3 star rating and Once a 4 star rating. I will finish out the trilogy just to see it to the ending and to see if I'll like Eve any better.

I'm back!

Sorry about the hiatus! I had some health things going on, so now I'm going to give this another try! I've read a slew of books since KMM's highlander series, but I enjoyed them very much, they give you a new insight to some of the characters in her fever series. Overall I'd give the whole bundle a 4. There were a couple I loved and a few others that I would give a three, but KMM is an excellent writer so they are worth the read!

But since then I've reread her fever series for the third time to ready myself for Iced, which was amazing! I finished it in twelve hours. She killed me at the ending though, what I'd been dying to know the whole book she slaps on the very last page! It's going to be a long year waiting for her next Dani novel!

I've read Veronica Roth's Divergent and Insurgent which I absolutely loved! Finished those in a day each and realized that I love dystopia. I've really only started reading dystopia this year and now I can't find enough books in the genre.

Kiersten White's Paranormalcy series was good, but I feel like I'm growing further away from that type of book. I really enjoyed the first book, but the others didn't trap me like some books do. So Paranormalcy I'd give a 4 and Supernaturally and Endlessly 3's.

Kresley Cole's Poison Princess was amazing! If I could give it more than 5 stars I would, I'll be awaiting the next installment restlessly. She takes a very different path to what her end of the world looks like and she blew me away!

I'm currently reading Eve by Anna Carey and I'm about halfway through, so a review won't be far.

I'm glad to be back! Just remember I'm new to all of this still so criticism is welcome! Any help would be appreciated!

What are you reading? Or have you read any of the books in my post, if so what did you think of them?

Still getting a hang of this...

So I'm still trying to tweak my blog and while I break from that I am still reading Karen Marie Moning's Highlander series, I decided to review the bundle of books than do it individually. I am currently on the final one, which is great because I plan on rereading her Fever series because Iced is coming out in October! I can't wait! I was really hoping I would be able to go to NOLA and her Iced release party, but alas, not for me this year! Whoever is going have a great time and I'm incredibly jealous! Well I'm off to finish Spell of the Highlander. Review to follow!

My journey begins

Hello, I won't kid myself saying everyone, because come on, no one's heard of me yet. But I'm hoping to change that. So let me introduce myself. Hi my name is Emma, I'm 23 and I have at this moment a son who is a year and a half old. He's the greatest thing in my life and will most likely be (other than when I have other children) the only thing above my love of books. I enjoy reading paranormal fiction, and young adult books mostly, but I do venture from those genres occasionally. I'm a stay at home mom thanks to my husband. I'm going to warn you I've never reviewed a book before but I can't wait to try. I'm going to warn any underage readers, this is not going to strictly be a young adult site, though I do tend to mostly read those books, I do enjoy smutty books, not that the authors I read are very smutty, but smut is smut.

The reason I'm starting a blog is because my love of reading is tired of being confined to people I try and lend books to. I want to be able to discuss a book that had me head over heels, with someone else who thought the same, even if they didn't , someone to talk to about it right after, not months later when I've finally gotten someone to read it! So here we go!

I am currently reading The Dark Highlander by Karen Marie Moning and I'm enjoying it so far, I've read the other highlanders up to this point and the last one was so good, in my opinion that I started and  finished it in the same day (staying up until 3am to do so).

I hope you enjoyed my introduction and once I finish the book I'm currently reading, I hope you enjoy the review!

Thanks!
